The Rolling Mill derived its name from the rolling of sheet lead from the lead mines up at Greenhow and Heathfield. Around 1890 it was converted to a twine mill making ropes up to 1" in diameter and parachute cord. The water, which runs to the rear of the cottage, turned the water wheel. It closed as a working mill in 1963.
The kitchen was the stable. The lounge was to house the cart. The bedroom was the smithy and the bathroom was part of the workshop.
The garden is open for you to wander and relax in. There are tables and chairs available for your use and a bar-b-q available by arrangement. Please do not be shy to ask for a trowel or fork to do some weeding, no charge is made!
Close proximity to World Heritage site Fountains Abbey, also Brimham Rocks, Stump Cross Caverns, and within easy reach of Harrogate for conferences and exhibitions.
The cottage is in a wonderful and peaceful rural location, yet only 10 mins. walk from all the amenities of Pateley Bridge ideally situated for walkers and cyclists
We hope you have an enjoyable holiday.
